Nigeria, Germany deepen defence ties through new agreement

By signing a new Memorandum of Understanding with the German Technical Advisory Group, the governments of Germany and Nigeria have reiterated their commitment to enhancing their bilateral defense cooperation. Mr. Sunday Iyogu, a Principal Information Officer in the Ministry of Defense, made this announcement on Friday in Abuja. The MoU is a strategic counterpart finance arrangement that highlights the close defense connections between both countries, according to Gabriel Aduda, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defense, who spoke at the signing ceremony. Aduda emphasized that the extended agreement supported long-term security cooperation and developmental aims, which were in line with Nigeria and Germany's common objectives.

He reiterated the Nigerian government’s commitment to ensuring accountability, and efficiency in the implementation of the agreement.

He said that adherence to strict timelines and rigorous monitoring would be prioritised to guarantee the effective execution of all agreed engagements.
